Gray Classic is a
retired professional athlete, that officially started his music career at the
age of twenty eight. Gray started his rap music career very late in his life
because he was busy chasing after his pro football career dreams, in the first 27
years of his life. Most people know Gray for being one of the best athletes to
come out of the South Florida area. After playing college football at the
University of Rhode Island and pro football in the AFL (Arena Football League),
Gray decided to pursue his dreams of becoming rap star.
Gray Classic
officially started his music career in the summer of 2016. That year, Gray
moved back to New Jersey to help take care of his sick father who was battling
with a rare muscle disease. Gray was born in Irvington, New Jersey on August
18, 1987. Both of Gray's parents migrated to the United States from Haiti
during the 1970's and 1980's. In 1997, Gray’s parent separated and his mother
move to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Gray moved to Fort Lauderdale, with his mother
and older sister. After only two months of living in Fort Lauderdale, Gray was
sent back to live in New Jersey, with his father, because of bad behavior. In
2000, Gray's father received a phone call from his Gray’s eight grade math teacher, advising him to move
Gray back to Florida, to live with his mother. That math teacher told Gray’s
father, that he felt like Gray would be dead or in prison by the age of
eighteen, if he stayed in Irvington.
Gray had huge circle
of friends and family that he had built a very strong connection with in
Irvington, New Jersey but Gray knew Florida was the better place for him to
finish out his teenage years. Gray had always been a great athlete and was able
to become very popular when he moved back to Florida in the year 2000. Gray was
voted the most athletic in his 6th grade class at Union Middle School and since
then he knew that he had a great chance of becoming a professional athlete. By
the year 2000 had arrived, Gray's mother had moved to Boca Raton, Florida and
he attended Boca Raton Middle and High School. At Boca Raton High School, Gray
had won a basketball championship that made him become the top athlete in the
city of Boca Raton. Unfortunately, Gray was arrested a few years after winning
a basketball championship on robbery and battery charged.
In September of 2004,
Gray served a one month sentence in the Palm Beach County juvenile detention
and county jail. After Gray was released from jail, he transferred to Boca
Raton Christian high school and scored 16 touchdowns, while playing quarterback
and running back for the school’s varsity football team. Gray would also rack
up 60 tackles while playing the linebacker position on Boca Raton Christians
varsity football team. In 2007, Gray signed a full football scholarship that
was offered to him by the University of Rhode Island Rams. Gray became the
first student athlete to sign a full division one athletic scholarship in Boca
Raton Christian High Schools history.
After attending one
semester at the University of Rhode Island, Gray transferred to Palm Beach
Community College. During Gray's time at Palm Beach Community College, he
signed an acting and modeling contract with Gilla Roos Talent Agency. While
Gray was modeling for Gilla Roos, he was also dating a very popular musician,
songwriter and singer. In 2008, Gray was invited to his first recording studio
and began writing and recording song. In 2011, Gray signed a contract with a
professional athlete agent that helped he get a chance to play in the Arena Football
League (AFL) for the Iowa Barnstormers professional football team. After making
his pro football dreams come true, Gray began focusing on making his music
career dreams come true.
In the summer of 2016,
Gray moved back to New Jersey after his father was diagnosed with a very rare
muscle disease that made him unable to walk. Gray moved back to New Jersey, to
help his father adjust to his new lifestyle with this rare muscle disease.
While Gray was helping his father with his living situation, he also formed a
rap group with his cousin called the Lit Boyz. The Lit Boyz released one
mixtape titled "The Reunion" and began performing at night clubs in
Irvington and Newark, New Jersey. The Lit Boyz rap group only lasted for seven
months but that seven month run was epic!
